Louisville Slugger? MLB125FT Flame Tempered Wood Baseball Bat Review

Louisville Slugger? MLB125FT Flame Tempered Wood Baseball Bat
Average Reviews:

For months my husband had been talking about wanting his own Louisville Slugger, but all of the stores around us only sold Youth sizes. I started looking around online but all the other sites were so expensive and had stuff like major league players names on them, stuff that I didn't want. So I decided to check Amazon. I think this was the second or third item that I looked at. It was a great price and the right size.
It took me so long to find the right bat that the arrival date was going to be past my husband's birthday, so I was worried about that. But they pulled through and got it to me a couple days before, and he was thrilled with it. Definitely worth every penny.

I have used this bat for 3 seasons now in a 30 over wooden bat only league. It has a large sweet spot and I have broken a few (my fault) and each replacement has been of high quality and consistent construction. Again, I prefer the Maple version. I highly recommend this bat for any wooden baseball league.

This is a very attractive bat and unique enough in construction material that I had to pick it up. Like another reviewer, the vibration when hitting a ball is almost too much to handle. I left the cages with my hands, wrists and arms aching. Ultimately I had to switch over to my aluminum bat, which was much better. In the realm of natural bats, bamboo unfortunately is at the bottom my my list. Give me maple or ash any day.

Louisville Slugger Adult Wood Bat Review

Louisville Slugger Adult Wood Bat
Average Reviews:

Obviously, if you're looking for a wooden bat Louisville is the way to go. I love my new bat. Shipping was decently fast, I got it in the mail in about 2 days. The bat feels really nice in hand.
The bat may seem a little heavy at first but, after you use it you become more use to it.
Also, if you are worried about how your bat looks then maybe consider getting a different color bat. The bat will end up getting marks from the leather of the ball. Not like dents or anything but, the ball will trade paint with the bat. I personally think that it gives the bat character but, it's really up to you.
Overall I think this is a great deal. I paid half of what I would have paid at some sports store. If you're interested in getting a wooden bat I think this is a great deal. I still suggest looking around to see your options just in case there is a better deal but, if you think this is for you get it. Good luck and happy hunting.

This bat splinter and cracked from the first day I used it. I tried to tape the areas that were damaged but recently had the handle crack and become no longer of use. This bat should have never been placed in the market, it clearly looked unhealthy the day I received it. Very disappointed!

Keep your fielders on their toes with the Louisville Slugger K100 all-purpose wood fungo bat. Designed for baseball practice, the K100 is made of northern white ash--pound for pound the strongest timber available. The ash construction offers a flexibility that isn't found in other timbers, including maple, helping create a larger, more forgiving sweet spot in terms of breakage. The bat also offers a thinner barrel and a lighter weight than traditional bats, so it requires less effort to hit balls to any part of the field. Specific features include a 2-1/4-inch barrel, a 36-inch length, and a natural finish.
About Louisville Slugger In many ways, the rich 120-year history of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat began in the talented hands of 17-year-old John A. "Bud" Hillerich. Bud's father, J.F. Hillerich, owned a woodworking shop in Louisville in the 1880s when Bud began working for him. Legend has it that Bud slipped away from work one afternoon in 1884 to watch the Louisville Eclipse, the town's major league team. After Pete Browning--the Eclipse's star who was mired in a hitting slump--broke his bat, Bud invited him to his father's shop to make a new one. With Browning at his side giving advice, Bud handcrafted a new bat from a long slab of wood. Browning got three hits using the bat the next day. Browning told his teammates, which began a surge of professional ballplayers visiting the Hillerich shop.
Although J.F. Hillerich had little interest in making bats, Bud persisted, eventually registering the name Louisville Slugger with the U.S. patent office in 1894. In the early 1900s, the company was one of the first to use a sports endorsement as a marketing strategy, paying Hall of Famer Honus Wagner to use his name on a bat. By 1923, Louisville Slugger was the selling more bats than any other bat maker in the country, with such famed clients as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Lou Gehrig. In the ensuing years, the company has sold more than 100 million bats, and 60 percent of all Major League players currently use Louisville Sluggers. The company now sells far more than bats, including fielding and batting gloves, helmets, catchers' gear, equipment bags, training aids, and accessories.

Louisville Slugger P72 Pro Lite Wood Black Barrel Baseball Bat Review

Louisville Slugger P72 Pro Lite Wood Black Barrel Baseball Bat
Average Reviews:

I hit a home run with this bat and broke it the same day I bought it.
It ended up splitting pretty badly on a off-speed pitch hit off the end of the bat. Wood bats break, but I've never had one go down so quickly. This could have just been bad luck.

Don't make the mistake of thinking all wood bats are the same. They may look similar, but the quality of the wood is very different from one wood bat company to another. Louisville Slugger, however, sets itself apart from other bat makers with more than 120 years of bat-making experience, outstanding turning models, and access to the best-quality wood on the market. The P72 Pro Lite bat, for instance, is made of professional-grade ash, pound for pound the strongest timber available. Ash offers a flexibility that isn't found in other timbers, including maple, resulting in a barrel that tends to flex rather than break. This gives you a larger, more forgiving sweet spot in terms of breakage. In addition, ash is lighter than maple, so players can choose from among several large-barrel sizes. It all adds up to a terrific choice for casual players who love the look and feel of a genuine wood bat, or professionals who value a high-quality bat performance.
Bat Specifications
Wood: Ash
Finish: Gwynn
Length: 32, 33, or 34 inches
Handle: 15/16 inches
Barrel: Medium
Turning model: P72
Cupped: Yes

Note: The biggest factors that influence the life of a wood bat are the quality of wood and where the ball hits your bat. Until you gain experience hitting with wood bats, however, don't be surprised if you break a lot of bats. Unlike with aluminum bats, when you hit a ball along the handle or at the end of a wood bat, you may break the bat rather than get a hit. It takes a lot of practice, but with work, you will find that you break fewer bats and become a much better hitter.

Mattingly V-Grip Adult Ash Baseball Bat Review

Mattingly V-Grip Adult Ash Baseball Bat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The v-grip handle of these bats provides a comfortable feel when swinging, and will help teach you to lead with your knuckles during the swing (you may also have heard this referred to as "squaring you hands"). It has a very good balance and distribution of weight (I am most comfortable using the 33" and choking up about 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the base). The paint does wear off rather quickly due to the fact that you'll only be hitting balls off of one side (due to the v-grip), but that is obviously a minor inconvenience. The barrel starts to narrow and slope to the handle a little higher up than most wooden bats, thus making the "sweet spot" a bit smaller. This is not a completely negative feature, however, as it makes the bat a little lighter and when you do hit the ball with the fattest part, it seems to jump a little more off the wood than with a full size barrel. Overall a very good, durable bat (I've used mine at least 3 times a week for over 3 months now), that probably should be priced $10 to $20 more than what it is for its value. I will definitely buy another if/when mine finally breaks.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Mattingly V-Grip Adult Ash Baseball Bat

The Mattingly V-Grip Adult Ash Baseball Bat is made from the finest Appalachian white ash billets on the market, and each billet is hand-selected by a certified National Hardwood Lumber Association inspector. As a result, the bat feels solid in the hand, and resists splintering.
Patented V-Grip technology aligns with the grain for a solid hit every time. The bat has a 2.5-inch barrel, 0.97-inch handle, post-catalyzed black varnish, and cupped barrel.
V-Grip Technology Patented V-Grip technology, a Mattingly Hitting Products proprietary design, helps the hitter maximize his or her swing by aligning the knuckles properly. This forces the bat handle away from the palm and into the fingers, the ideal batting grip for quickly sending hands through the hitting zone and getting the sweet spot on the ball. The V-Grip design additionally features a stiff handle and taper section, which transfers more energy and power at the point of impact.
About Mattingly Hitting Products Mattingly Hitting Products was founded to promote improved hitting ability in young baseball players through the use of the patented V-Grip baseball bat, and baseball legend Don Mattingly's approach to hitting.
Early in his baseball career, Don quickly realized the key to increasing hand quickness and bat speed could be found in the grip, and that a good grip meant positioning the bat in the fingers, and not in the palms. After much experimentation, he eventually discovered that trimming the bat handle into a rounded "V" shape allowed him to effectively position his fingers and maintain the proper grip throughout the swing.
The result was the patented V-Grip bat. In 2005, the company began to market wood bats on a small scale, with most of the bats sold at tournaments and through a small number of dealers. Today, the V-Grip bat has become a worldwide bestseller, and the company has expanded its product line to include a full selection of baseball and softball hitting equipment.
